President - CEO

Thomas Randolph Arjil (Tom) is the founder and chief executive officer of AlphaOne Ambulance Medical Services, Inc.

Tom has been passionately involved with the Sacramento EMS industry for 45 years, from EMT to CEO. He values the work ethic, patient care, and opinions of the men and women of AlphaOne and encourages them to pursue their dreams.

Tom contributes and supports locally to the American Red Cross, Alzheimer’s Society, and Del Oro Care Giver Resource Center. The AlphaOne family strives to be relevant and innovative and is well-positioned to accept the challenges ahead of us.

Dr. Nathan Beckerman

Medical Director

Dr. Beckerman has a Bachelor of Science from UC Davis in Neurobiology, Physiology, and Behavior from UC Davis and Doctor of Medicine from the University of Cincinnati.

He did his residency in Emergency Medicine at Madigan Army Medical Center and is board-certified in Emergency Medicine. After residency, Dr. Beckerman served 4 years on active duty in the Army, stationed in South Korea and Germany.

He returned to Northern California in 2013 and currently practices emergency medicine in Sacramento County.  He joined AlphaOne as medical director in 2019.

Michael Jones

Director of Business Operations

Michael began his professional career working in senior healthcare in 2006, in 2011 he left senior healthcare to help launch AlphaOne Ambulance in Sacramento.

Beginning with AlphaOne he worked in the field as an EMT for 2 years before moving into a business development role.

Since moving out of the field he has continued to develop his toolset and now oversees the Business Development, Account Receivables, and all other Administrative Functions for AlphaOne.

Michael is a certified Emergency Medical Technician (EMT), Advanced Emergency Medical Dispatcher (AEMD), and Certified Ambulance Compliance Officer (CACO).

Matt Burruel

Director of Field Operations

Matt has been actively involved in EMS and serving the Sacramento community since March of 2003.  After working full-time in the field as EMT and Paramedic for 15 years, Matt discovered his passion for leadership. 

Mentoring the future leaders of the Sacramento EMS community has been his focus for several years.  This focus results in maintaining the operational efficiencies in our 24/7 industry.  

Matt is also passionate about training and education.  He is responsible for shaping the education structure and process of all new and current EMTs and Paramedics at AlphaOne Ambulance. 

Dan Husum

Director of Communications & Logistics

Dan helped open AlphaOne’s doors and began his career here as a paramedic in 2011. He then became a Paramedic Field Supervisor and helped mold the future of the company.

AlphaOne was leading the pace for California EMS as Dan helped implement the first Nemsis ePCRs. As technology was a constantly evolving frontier for AlphaOne, Dan stepped into a Logistics and Technology Director role to help guide us in new innovative directions.

Most recently he has also taken on the additional role of Communications Director and is working with the EMD team to bring you the resources you need as quickly and efficiently as possible.

Grace Murray

Director of Billing

Grace has worked in EMS for the past 14 years and has been with AlphaOne Ambulance since the inception of the company.

Grace is the Director of Billing for AlphaOne Ambulance and oversees 7 billing personnel. As a Certified Ambulance Coder Grace has exceptional knowledge in reviewing Patient Care Reports, claim submission, and revenue cycle management.

She is a member of the CAA (California Ambulance Association) and AAA (American Ambulance Association). She actively continues her education in EMS billing by attending conferences, workshops, and webinars. Grace is also a Certified Ambulance Privacy Officer and Emergency Medical Dispatcher.

Schae Gustafson

Director of Human Resources

Schae has been an EMT since 2017 and has been with AlphaOne since 2018, actively serving patients in the role of EMS provider and emergency vehicle operator.

Schae was also cross-trained in the Human Resources department. As Schae’s value to the administrative team was realized, Schae was promoted to Human Resources in 2021.

Schae currently handles the new applicant hiring process, manages employee matters, and maintains employee files.

Mike Ryder

Business Development Manager

Mike started his EMT career in 1997 and joined the AlphaOne Team in 2017. Having a foundation of EMS experience, Mike works in our community as an instructor, educator, and customer service liaison for contracted communities.

Mike is also involved in direct sales and works with many of Sacramento’s skilled nursing, assisted living, and independent living communities. During the Covid 19 pandemic, Mike was instrumental in field operations training and continues to manage several programs for Covid testing and vaccine distribution to the Sacramento County region.

John Crystalinas

Interfacility Transport Manager

John has been with AlphaOne for 4 years and in EMS for 10.

Always looking for opportunities to learn something new he has been crafted as a Lifeguard, EMT, Ski Patrol, Paramedic, and Administrator.

He believes in a work hard, play hard philosophy as his driver for innovation.

John currently works to develop business in the interfacility division of AlphaOne.

Millie Heard

Billing Supervisor

Millie began her Medical Billing Career with AlphaOne Ambulance 8 years ago. 

Millie and her team of professional certified Medical Billers and Coders are responsible for ensuring all initial Coding and Billing of claims are in compliance prior to submission to insurance carriers (Medicare, Medi-Cal, and Private Insurances), payments are posted daily and denials, follow-ups, and re-billing are done in a timely manner.

Millie is a certified Medical Biller and Coder Alumni with the Institute Of Technology, NAAC CAC (Certified Ambulance Coder) and currently a Medical Billing & Coding Instructor with MTI College.

Dylan English

Education Manager

Dylan began working at AlphaOne in 2016 in the WAV division of the company.

Since then, he has moved through the ranks of BLS EMT, ALS EMT, Field Training Officer, and is now the Education Manager.

He works with all of AlphaOne’s new EMTs and Paramedics for initial training and is in charge of continued training with all field employees at AlphaOne. Our training reflects our 7 core values: safety, integrity, patient care, customer service, non-complacency, solution provider, and pride.

Nick Coibion

BLS Division Supervisor

Nick began his career with AlphaOne as a non-medical driver in September of 2012. 

Since his start, he has served in a variety of different capacities within the company. 

He has worked as a BLS EMT, ALS EMT, Field Training Officer, Lead Field Training Officer and is currently serving as AlphaOne’s BLS Supervisor.

Emily Cruse

HR Coordinator

Emily joined the Human Resources team at AlphaOne in 2021. She is educated in the scientific study of the mind and behavior by acquiring her B.A. in Psychology at California State University, Sacramento. Although she has no prior EMS experience, Emily has acquired a wide range of public skills through her innate personality and previous jobs. She now implements her skills into AlphaOne’s daily morale. Emily is the project manager of our year around company events and employee appreciation. She is a valuable addition to the human resource team as she assists in on boarding, leads recruitments, employee reports, and employee retention.

Human Resources Assistant

Erica May was brought into AlphaOne as an HR Assistant in August 2021. She obtained her B.A in Psychology at California State University, Northridge. She also became certified under Ventura County to mediate, refining her skills in listening, communication, and negotiation. In South Lake Tahoe, she was Lead Marketer for Wyndham Destinations while simultaneously maintaining her top marketer status. Although she was not in an HR role, it is where she started HR duties. This includes: scheduling, training, creating training manuals, helping employees with pay, interviews, implementing and enforcing policies, team managing, leading meetings, and helping employees reach their goal. She also discovered her passion for being a liaison between departments; always advocating for a cohesiveness between workers and management. “I didn’t choose HR, HR chose me.”

Zachary Whiting

Critical Care Program Director

Zach began his professional career at Huntsville Hospital Level 1 Trauma Center in Huntsville, Alabama after receiving his Bachelor of Science in Nursing and RN Licensure. While at Huntsville Hospital, Zach participated in several committees, education projects, and was selected to be one of the lead trauma nurses in the Emergency Department. He continued to serve as a nurse in a multitude of different roles including as a clinical instructor for the University of Alabama at Huntsville, an adjunct Tactical Combat Casualty Care instructor, and as a reserve sheriff’s deputy. In 2018, Zach moved to the Sacramento area. Here, he has continued his nursing career as a flight nurse with Calstar/Reach and SkyLife. For the past 2 years, Zach has been a critical care ground transport nurse in the Sacramento area. Zach joined the AlphaOne management team in April of 2022. His role has been to create, implement, and manage the Critical Care Transport Program for AlphaOne.

Zach is specialty board certified in Emergency Nursing (CEN), Critical Care (CCRN), and Neonatal and Pediatric Transport (C-NPT).

Joseph Clifford

Field Supervisor

Joe began his EMS career with AlphaOne in 2017 as a non-medical driver. Joe was promoted through the BLS and ALS divisions and worked as a full time EMT for four years.

Joe has worked as a field training officer since 2020 and has been a certified CPR instructor since 2021. In addition, Joe took the opportunity to become an interim supervisor in 2021 and is now a part of the full time ALS Supervisor team.

Matt Vorderstrasse

Field Supervisor

Matt initially started his EMS career with the intention of working with the fire department.

However, once Matt started working within the private ambulance sector, he quickly learned that this was a better fit for him and his future. Matt has been involved with EMS as a Paramedic for over 5 years, and in that time has trained many new EMT’s and Paramedics as they start their future careers.

In 2019 Matt was awarded Paramedic of the Year. Matt was given the opportunity to be a supervisor where he is currently helping to manage AlphaOne’s 24/7 system.

Kristen Schleeter

Field Supervisor

Kristen has been working for this AlphaOne Ambulance for 3 years.

She started off as a wheelchair driver in the WAV division and worked her way up the ranks. She is AlphaOne’s first female Supervisor who takes great pride in helping her crews and improving the community any way that she can.

Kristen is not only a full time EMT/ Supervisor, she is also currently working to achieve her Paramedic license at American River College.
